Under rather grey skies, the teams were greeted with a secondbreakfast of bacon cobs and hot drinks, courtesy of the stalwartStuart Dale. All was impeccably organised by the Seniors Committee,so there was plenty of time for a Group Photo – all smiles!
Thank you again Stuart, who kindly took this photograph. It clearly illustrates the range of golfing gear on display, reflecting the seasonal uncertainties regarding the weather. Golf was played on “interesting” greens which were beautiful following their recent treatment.
The sun shone. The rain fell. The wind blew.The teams retired to the Bar to relax, while Elvyn “did the cards”.Thanks again for this essential contribution.Stuart and his chef (who was keen to avoid the limelight) presented plates of great food, and then… Mr Captain did his thing.
Some great golf had been on display, but the winning team (winningon a count-back) emerged as Derrick Morson, Derrick Lambert, Bob Scott and Ken Hammond. Well done you four.
I caught up with Ken at the Bar…
The other star of the show was Barrie (Bazza) Mullins for his amazing“nearest the pin” on the 8th hole. Well done Barrie.Derrick did the raffle, which was fun, especially for those who enjoy wine and chocolate.
The day was concluded with Alex making some announcements (AGM 26th Oct / Spirit of Christmas 5th Nov / Seniors Christmas dinner 11th Dec) and he thanked everyone for taking part. We, members of the Seniors Section, thank Alex, Grant, Derrick,Elvyn and Ken for all their hard work behind the scenes making this such a successful and enjoyable day.
